Blogging has become one of the most popular forms of writing, and a successful blog generates a source of income that is unmatchable with those of mainstream typical Indian careers. It is a profession adopted by mostly young people sharing their experience and views on places, food, lifestyles, how to’s, tutorials, technology, and whatnot.

Amit Agarwal is a pioneer in blogging, having worked at ADP.inc for five years, he quit his corporate job to become a full-time blogger. At the time, the concept of blogs wasn’t so popular in the country, and Amit started writing a detailed description of an HP printer on his blog, which attracted many visitors. So he started writing more such descriptions on other technologies and eventually became a big hit. Labnol, India’s first official blog platform, started earning him income a year after it was founded. It has generated loads of traffic over the years and now gets over 3 million visitors per month.

An accidental blogger and an engineer by profession, Harsh Agarwal started blogging in 2008 with a wonderful idea to liberate all those working with 9-5 corporate jobs. With dedication and effort, he lived off the income generated through blogging and now lives boss-free. Before starting her own online media tech, Sharma served as an assistant vice president at CNBC TV18 and also as a brand advisor at The Times of India. YourStory has been a major media platform for startups, entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators, publishing over 20,000 stories of entrepreneurs since its inception in 2008. It has hosted events that have directly impacted over 1.7 million people. Being one of the largest media platforms in India, YourStory has provided business networking opportunities to 50,000 entrepreneurs.
6. Varun Krishna: FoneArena, $22,000 a month:
Fascinated by gadgets, Varun used to build his own computers. He is a techie at heart with a passion for writing. There was a time when no information on mobile phones was available online and Varun decided to do something about it. He built a mobile phone database and started blogging about it. Since mobile phone obsession is a common thing among people, it became a huge success, with 500 million visitors from all over the world.
7. Ashish Sinha: NextBigWhat, $18,000 a month:
When Ashish was working as a project manager at Yahoo, he saw many of his friends starting up without any platform to promote them or give feedback on products. A lot of media were focused on people, but not products, and having realized this, Ashish started a platform called Pluggdin (started as ashish-sinha.blogspot.com). It focused on entrepreneurs and brought the focus of the industry as well.

Deepak, a passionate digital marketer from Bengaluru, started his first online publication called BikeAdvice which became a no.1 motorcycling blog in India with 1,00,000+ followers and more than 1 million views per month. Eventually, he exited the page in 2012. Deepak was inspired by an article in Chip and Digit magazine, on how to earn from blogging and AdSense. He first started blogging about bikes and later moved on to digital marketing.
